The checked baggage allowance for Royal First Class is 40 kgs, Royal Executive Class 30 kgs and Economy Class 20 kgs. Surplus weight over the baggage allowance will be charged at the standard excess baggage rate.

Royal Orchid Plus Gold members are entitled to check in an additional 20 kgs;
Royal Orchid Plus Silver members an additional 10kgs.

Infants (not occupying a seat) shall be allowed 10 kgs, excluding 1 fully collapsible child stroller, pushchair or infant-carrying basket.

Children are entitled to the same free baggage allowance as adult passengers.

Each passenger may carry, without additional charges, one piece of hand baggage suitable for placing under the seat in front or in the closed overhead rack, provided that the carry-on baggage has a maximum length of 56 cms (22 inches), width 45cms (18 inches) and 25 cms (10 inches). However, the sum of the three dimensions shall not exceed 115 cms (45 inches) and the weight must not exceed 7 kgs.

Under BAA regulations and with effect from 01 August 2006, cabin baggage that exceeds the IATA standard size, as documented above, will not be allowed to pass through any Central Search area at Heathrow Airport.. Passengers will be directed back to the Thai Airways check-in and the bag and or additional contents will be redirected as checked-in luggage.

The following items are prohibited in checked and carry-on baggage:
Magnetised, inflammable, corrosive, radioactive, oxidizing or explosive articles, pressurized gasses, toxic substances, oxygen cylinders, paint, mercury, munitions or fireworks. Strong-smelling materials, lighter fuel and refills, food or fruit, or weapons.

Due to security reasons, please ensure that all sharp items such as pen-knives, scissors, tweezers and nail-files are placed in your checked-in luggage. Failure to do so will result in these items being confiscated by airport security and regrettably, not returned.

We do not carry firearms.

During flight you may use a hand-held electronic game, tape recorder, dictaphone, hearing aid or electric shaver. Electronic calculators and personal or portable computers (without printer) may be used 15 minutes after take-off until the Fasten Seatbelt sign is illuminated prior to descent for landing.

Sporting Equipment

Golfing

One set of golfing equipment shall consist of one golf bag containing a maximum of 14 golf clubs, 12 golf balls and a pair of golf shoes.

Golfing equipment may be included in passengers checked baggage allowance. If the baggage weight exceeds the allotted amount, a special charge may apply.

A flat fee is established for the first 15 kilos on the following conditions:

USD35 - (or equivalent currency) for travel wholly within Europe, within Asia, within South America or within the South West Pacific.

USD70 – (or equivalent) for travel other than those mentioned above.

If the weight exceeds 15 kilos, normal excess baggage charges will apply.

Kindly note that for domestic services, a charge equal to 6 kilos of excess baggage will be levied for articles weighing up to 15 kilos. Any excess weight over 15 kilos will be charged at the normal excess rate.

Such charges are only applicable when the actual weight is not included in the normal checked baggage allowance. If included and in excess, the normal excess baggage rate or special charge, whichever is less, shall apply.

Bicycles

Bicycles can be included in the permitted allowance however any additional weight will be charged as normal excess luggage.

Windsurfing/Surfboarding Equipment

This equipment cannot be included in the permitted baggage allowance and must be booked in advance through our reservations department. Boards not exceeding 277 cms (109 inches) will be charged at the applicable excess baggage rate for 5 kilos.

Boards exceeding 277 cms will be charged at the applicable excess baggage rate of 8kgs.

The exception to the above regulations are flights to and from Denpasar where one surfboard that does not exceed the above size regulations can be included as part of the checked-in luggage allowance.  Any additional surfboards will be charged at the applicable rate.

Diving Equipment

Any amount over the permitted allowance is charged at the applicable excess rate.

Water-Skis may be included in the normal baggage allowance, any excess is charged at a flat rate of 3 kilos.
