THAI Smiles on Mandalay
With Myanmar fast becoming the hot new destination for 2013, THAI Smile is continuing to expand in Asia with its new route linking Bangkok directly with Mandalay, the second-largest city and the last royal capital of Burma.
Located 445 miles (716 km) north of Yangon on the eastern bank of the Irrawaddy River, Mandalay has captured the imaginations of travellers for as long as we remember. Now THAI Smile has brought it just that bit closer for those seeking an exotic cruise down the Irrawaddy River, exploring the Palace and temples, or taking advantage of the wonderful shopping opportunities for bargain lacquer wear, jewellery and other exquisite local handicrafts.
THAI Smile will operate the route five times a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays commencing March 31, 2013.
The flights to and from Mandalay now connect with the London flights as follows:
LHR-BKK (TG911) 1230-0605*1 operated by Thai Airways
BKK-MDL (TG781) 0725-0850 operated by THAI Smile
MDL-BKK (TG782) 0930-1155 operated by THAI Smile
BKK-LHR (TG916) 1250-1855 operated by Thai Airways
THAI Smile fleet consists of 11 brand-new, fuel-efficient Airbus A320-200 Jets. The first rows are designed as ‘Smile Plus’, a short-haul business-class service, providing extra seat pitch and enhanced service elements designed to appeal to the upper end of the market.
The main THAI Smile cabin is configured in 174 economy-class seats employing a fashionable but comfortable new seat design. Pre-booking seat selection and check-in counter service (with a baggage allowance of 20 kg.) is to be offered at no additional charge and on-board snacks will be served. Passengers who made the smart choice to travel on THAI Smile will also be able to claim Royal Orchid Plus (ROP) mileage.
